Dear Parents,

We are having a great time in class. It was so fun because our class predicted, what would happen if we mixed cooking oil, water, and an alka seltzer? Surprisingly, the alka seltzer created a cool lava lamp. In Language Arts, our class is working hard on our long vowels and reading them fluently within a small text. For math, the class is moving forward with adding and subtracting plus ten within 100. Although the class is having some struggles, I am sure that with more practice we will get this concept.

Literacy Tip-

It has been awhile since I have provided a literacy tip. When I have free moments in the morning, I listen to a podcast called Teaching Keating. The name is drawn from the movie, Dead Poet’s Society. Robin Williams was cast as the professor and his name was John Keating. This week, on Teaching Keating, the podcast suggests some helpful tips for parents and early literacy skills. The first tip is read to your kids daily and make sure that books are readily available. Secondly, families must visit the library and enjoy the experience. And finally, parents and teachers must hold high expectations for reading and readers. Keep reading!
